This one started with a track title that hit me a little harder than I expected. Kuebass – Time Is a Thief. Because damn, it is.
I have been doing this a long time. DJing, trance, BPM Radio Network, digging for tracks, building mixes, tearing them apart and building them again. Somehow the years just keep disappearing. The music changes. We get older. Life gets busier. But every once in a while a track comes along that reminds you exactly why you started doing this in the first place.
That is where BPM #61 begins. From there, this mix does what BPM has always done. Classic trance DNA with new pressure.
There is plenty of twenty twenty-six in here, but you are going to hear names and melodies that reach way further back. Sophie Sugar. Darude. Chicane. Push. Binary Finary. Solarstone. These aren’t here just for nostalgia. They are being pushed forward through new remixes, new productions and a different generation of trance.
That is the BPM way.
We hit a proper Darude back-to-back with Sandstorm into Ilan Bluestone’s remix of Feel The Beat, then keep moving through the harder side of the ride with David Forbes, Push, ResuRection, Sneijder’s take on Playmo and Space 92 putting serious pressure on Domino.
Then comes 1998. Twenty-eight years later and that melody still works. From there the set starts finding its way home through Solarstone, Ronski Speed and finally XiJaro & Pitch and Youssri with Don’t You Worry Child.
No gimmick on this one. Just trance, played the way it should be. No quick cuts, no rushing the moment. Just long mixes, patient blends, and letting the tracks breathe.
Old memories. New records. Familiar melodies getting another life. A mix that is a reminder that time might be a thief, but the music we attach to those years has a funny way of giving some of it back.
