The Ride, Not The Rush

This one was not an easy build.

After the last few mixes came together with a lot of energy, this one made me slow down and rethink the whole approach. At first, I kept trying to force it into the usual BPM pressure lane. Big tracks, big moments, classic energy, keep pushing. But this crate did not want to work that way.The breakthrough came when I stopped trying to make it hit harder and started listening for the ride.

BPM #59 is inspired by that older trance mindset where tracks are not just stacked together for impact. They layer. They breathe. One melody starts to fade while another one quietly appears underneath. The mix becomes less about the drop and more about the journey from one emotional space to the next.That is the part of trance I fell in love with years ago.

This set leans into that. Cold Blue, Allen Watts, Mercurial Virus, Craig Connelly, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Bryan Kearney, Aly & Fila, RAM, Andrew Rayel, Above & Beyond. It still has power, but the power is earned. It is not full-force from the opening minute. It builds with patience.

The first stretch sets the tone with a deeper, layered trance feel before the emotion opens up. From there, the mix slowly grows into a main-stage vocal and uplifting section, then finds a late emotional surge with “I Can’t Breathe” into “Can We Still Feel.” That transition ended up becoming one of the real moments of the set.

This is BPM in a different gear. Not softer. Not weaker. Just more patient. BPM #59 is about restraint, layering, and remembering that trance does not always need to punch you in the face to hit hard.

Sometimes the real magic is finding the path through the chaos.
