On September 9, 1999, DJ Skott was a mere week in to his move from Maine to Arizona. He had attended his first rave on the 4th and was eager to start playing events. So on a Thursday Night, 9.9.99 was recorded. We didn’t have Youtube, or any fancy way to spread the mix, no smartphones, no fancy dj controllers. Pure skill was used on a Numark CD7030. DJ Skott recorded the 9.9.99 set on to a Mini-Disc and then dubbed it over to cassette tape. Enough of the third person, so I dubbed many many tapes, id say about 30. Lord, the amount of time it took to dub those. This was my audition tape for the promoters. I also handed a few out to random ravers. My mix soon became well known in the Phoenix rave scene and landed me my first few gigs. The rest well is history! Anyways, Today is the 20-year anniversary of this mix. I have dubbed it over to a MP4 as well recorded a remix of the 9.9.99 mix dated 9.9.19. I cannot believe how music and DJ Tech has changed in the last 20-years. So here’s to another 20-years!
