Back in 1997<\/strong>, a spark was lit in the small city of Bangor, Maine<\/strong>. I launched Beats Per Minute (BPM)<\/strong> on WHSN 89.3FM<\/a><\/strong>, the city\u2019s only dance music show at the time. It was raw, it was real, and it was ahead of its time<\/em> \u2014 streaming live in Real Audio<\/strong> by 1998 while spinning euro dance<\/strong>, trance<\/strong>, house<\/strong>, and hard house<\/strong> entirely on CDs<\/strong>. Turntables were not a format used, as WHSN 89.3FM<\/strong> operated on a fully digital system built around Mini-Discs<\/strong>, computers<\/strong>, and CDs<\/strong>. That\u2019s where the journey began \u2014 and where DJ Skott<\/strong> was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When I moved to Phoenix, Arizona<\/strong> in late 1999, I brought the sound with me. My \u201c9.9.99\u201d<\/strong> mix turned heads \u2014 not just for the track selection and flow, but because I was still using CDs<\/em> while many clung to vinyl. Some admired the precision, others questioned the medium. But I kept pushing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n By 2000<\/strong>, I added vinyl<\/strong> to my arsenal \u2014 expanding beyond CDs and embracing the tactile art of mixing on wax. This opened up new creative possibilities and pushed my sound even further. Around that time, I also coined the term Power Trance<\/strong> to describe my style: melodic<\/strong>, vocal<\/strong>, and anthem-driven epic trance<\/strong> driven at 147\u2013151 BPM<\/strong>. It was trance, but louder, faster, more emotionally charged \u2014 with power<\/em>. Today, that same spirit lives on in a refined 140 BPM approach, combining influential tracks<\/strong> with modern remixes<\/strong> that carry the energy of both past and present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fast forward to now \u2014 BPM #50<\/strong> has officially dropped. A 69-track journey through trance history, carefully mixed to honor the evolution of the genre while staying true to the BPM legacy.
