By 1995, he was holding down weekend nights at WHMX 105.7 and soon after, in August of that year, he introduced himself as DJ Skott on WUPI 92.1 FM. In those early days, his sets centered on eurodance, house, and early trance—setting the foundation for what would become a signature sound.

By 1996, he returned to WHSN and, in 1997, took on the role of Music Director. That same year, DJ Skott launched Beats Per Minute (BPM)—Bangor’s only dedicated dance music show at the time—featuring eurodance, trance, house, and hard house. In 1998, BPM began streaming live via RealAudio, an early move into internet radio that showed his forward-thinking approach. Though vinyl wasn’t allowed in the studio, DJ Skott mastered mixing with CDs, mini-discs, and computers—WHSN was a fully digital station.

In 1999, DJ Skott relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, and made an immediate impact with his 9.9.99 mix—recorded using only CDs, which at the time was seen as both innovative and controversial. Despite some purist backlash, his talent and energy won over local crowds, and he quickly booked club gigs before the new millennium.

By 2000, DJ Skott expanded his skills to include vinyl mixing and developed a more aggressive sound he dubbed Power Trance: melodic, epic, and progressive trance played at 147–151 BPM for maximum energy and emotional impact.

In 2003, he began refining his style again, returning to more melodic roots and bringing the tempo to a powerful yet balanced 145 BPM. In 2005, he evolved once more—crafting sensual, vocal-rich trance sets that hovered around 140–142 BPM with lush, emotional melodies.

In 2006, DJ Skott shifted focus back to radio, founding the BPM Radio Network to showcase emerging and classic dance music across digital platforms.

After a brief hiatus, DJ Skott returned in 2019 with a new series of mixes under the BPM name—paying homage to his original radio show. These new mixes blend forward-looking trance with timeless classics, offering fans both nostalgia and discovery.

This website serves as an archive of over 20 years of DJ Skott’s work—radio shows, live sets, and studio mixes. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a new listener, there’s always something fresh on the horizon.

From Bangor to Phoenix, DJ Skott has moved crowds with passion, precision, and powerful energy—often seen singing along with the vocals and deeply connecting with his audience. A Maine native and once one of Arizona’s best-kept trance secrets, DJ Skott continues to push the boundaries of sound and emotion.

As featured on: WHSN 89.3 FM, BPM Radio Network, EastCoastHappy.com, and Digitally Imported Radio

Scott Ouellette—known on-air and on the decks as DJ Skott—has been a force in dance music and radio for over two decades.
